End-carboxy hyperdispersant (ECH) was synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The effect of ECH on mechanical properties of sisal fiber/long glass fiber/Polypropylene (SF/LGF/PP) composites was discussed. The impact fracture surface of SF/LGF/PP composites and the interfacial compatibility between fibers and PP were analyzed. Experimental results showed that the impact strength and flexural strength of SF/LGF/PP composites modified with ECH (2w% of fibers) were 21.5 percent and 9.7 percent higher than those of unmodified composites, respectively. Furthermore, the addition of a little of ECH was helpful to improve the thermal properties of SF/LGF/PP composites. |
