Thecompositemembraneswithsulfonatedpolyetheretherketone(SPEEK),10wt.%yttria(Y2O3)andtungstophosphoricacid(PWA)werepreparedbythecastingprocedure,withY2O3andPWAmolarratioof2:1,1:1and1:2,respectively.Thecompositemembraneswerestudiedwithrespecttotheirstructure,thermalproperty,wateruptake,methanolpermeabilityandprotonconductivity.Fouriertransforminfraredspectrometryrevealedtheinteractionamong-SO3HgroupsofSPEEK,Y2O3andPWA.TheatomicforcemicroscopeshowedthattheY2O3andPWAdispersedincompositemembranes.Theglasstransitiontemperaturewasfoundabout300℃bydifferentialscanningcalorimetry.ThewateruptakeandmethanolpermeabilityincreasedwithincreasingPWAcontent,decreasedwithincreasingY2O3contentincompositemembranes.Theprotonconductivityincreasedfrom30to90℃anddecreasedwithincreasingY2O3content.
