Thecurrentdemandforenvironmentallydegradablepoly(ethyleneterephthalate)(PET)hasinitiatedtheuseofallkindsofnoveldepolymerizationmeans.WastePETbottlesweredepolymerisedusingrichsolutionmethodandaddingalittlesulfuricacidtodecreaseethyleneglycol(EG)using.TheglycolysisreactionswerecarriedoutattheboilingpointofEGundernitrogenatmosphereupto6h.Influencesofrichsolutionmethodandsulfuricacidwereinvestigated.Theglycolysisproductswereanalyzedforhydroxylandacidvaluesandidentifiedbymeansofdifferentanalyticaltechniquessuchasdifferentialscanningcalorimetric(DSC)andFTIRspectroscopy.ItwasfoundduetoapplicationoftherichsolutionmethodandadditionofsulfuricacidsignificantlydecreasedEGamount.Meanwhile,thedepolymerisitionrateofPETandtheamountofbis(hydroxyethyl)terephthalate(BHET)monomerofglycolysisproductswerenotsensiblereduced.
