Inthisstudy,wereportasimplemethodtofabricateboronnitride(BN)nanoplateletsbyusingasonication-centrifugationtechnique.Thegoalofthispaperistopresentasystematicstudyfortheeffectofinterfaceonthemorphologyandthermalpropertiesofpolymercomposites.Epoxyresinwaschosenasthematrixbecauseofitsextremelywideapplicationinaerospace,automotiveandelectronicindustriescl-3].WefabricatedaseriesofepoxycompositesbyusingdifferentsurfacefunctionlizationofBNnanoplatelets:(i)covalentfunctionlization.TheBNnanoplateletswerefirstlytreatedwithasilanecouplingagenttointroduceaminegroups,thengraftedofthehyperbranchedaromaticpolyamide(HBP)startedfromthemodifiedsurface.Thestrongcovalentbondingformationproducedastronginterfacebetweennanoplateletsandmatrix.(2)non-covalentfunctionlization.TheBNnanoplateletswerefunctionalizedbyoctadecylamine(ODA)molecules.TheODAmoleculesonthesurfaceofnanoplateletsphysicallyentanglewiththematrixmoleculesresultingintheintermediateinterfaceinteractionbetweennanoplateletsandmatrix.Finally,theepoxycompositeswithBNnanoplateletswerealsopreparedasacomparativeresearch.TheinterfaceinteractionmadebyBNnanoplateletswasweakbecauseofneitherchemicalreactionnorphysicalmolecularentanglement.Throughthiswork,anunderstandingoftheinterfaceeffectonthermalpropertiesofepoxycompositesisobtained.
