Theglobalclimatechangecausedbyexcessivecarbondioxide(C02)emissionshasattractedwidespreadpublicconcerninrecentyears.TostabilizeatmosphericC02levelsandpreventglobalwarming,itisimperativetodevelopviableC02captureandstorage(CCS)technologies.Microporousorganicpolymers(MOPs)relyingonphysicaladsorptionarepotentialcandidatesforC02capturebecauseoftheirlowregenerationenergyconsumptionandhighC02sorptioncapacity.Inthisstudy,aseriesofaromaticheterocycle-basedmicroporousorganicpolymerswaspreparedviaasimpleone-stepFriedel-Craftsreactionofalow-costcross-linkerwithordinaryaromaticheterocyclemonomers.ThestructureandmicromorphologyofthepolymerswereconfirmedbyFouriertransforminfrared,solid_statel3CCP/MASNMRspectroscopyandscanningelectronmicroscopy.Thematerials,withBrunauer-Emmet-Teller(BET)specificsurfaceareaover700m2.g-i,possessahighcarbondioxideuptake(upt012.7wt%at273Kandl.0bar),whicharecomparableorevenhigherthanthoseofamme-orcarboxylicacid-functionalizedmaterials.Specifically,thepyrrol-basednetwork,Py-I,showsanextraordinarilyhighselectiveadsorptionofC020verN2(about117at273K).Toourknowledge,thisselectiveC02sorptionisthehighestamongallthemicroporousmaterialsreportedtodate.TheseexcellentperformanceswouldprobablymakethempromisingcandidatesforC02captureandstorage.
